finished his doctoral degree at the University of Padjadjaran Bandung majoring in International Relations. He went to Deakin University in Melbourne for a Sandwich-fellowship program to deepen his dissertation research on counterterrorism in Indonesia. The dissertation explores Islamic-based organizations’ participation in preventing violent extremism through system dynamics. It is a novelty approach to analyzing variables that correlate to the threats of terrorism. As for his professional experiences, he has joined the World Citizen Diplomat, a peace movement organization based in Princeton, New Jersey, United States of America. Upon his return to Indonesia in 1999, he worked with the United States Embassy in Jakarta and the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta as local political staff. He attended American Culture and Foreign Service International (FSI) training in 2003 in Washington, DC. Currently, he lectures at the Paramadina University of Jakarta. He is an active member of the Muhammadiyah Central Board and is seating as deputy head of the Bureau for International Relations and Cooperation. He used to be a secretary to the Prevention of Extremism and Terrorism Agency at the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and was also a member of the national task force expert team of Mental Revolution at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (2020-2024). e: wachid.ridwan@umam.edu.my
